Mou Nyee graduated from National University of Singapore with a degree in Social Work and Sociology and started off his career in a Family Service Center. He then pursued his Master in Counselling from Edith Cowan University and also did a Postgraduate Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) awarded by Brief Family Therapy Institute (Milwaukee) in collaboration with Academy Of Human Development Pte Ltd (Singapore). Over the course of his career, Mou Nyee went on to learn multiple different counselling modalities. He is also an accredited Coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
In his 28 years of work, he has close to 20 years of direct counselling experience. Mou Nyee also has about 8 years of experience in supervisory or managerial position. Mou Nyee’s extensive career in the helping profession allows him to work with different groups of people with varied issues. He has worked with youths with mental health, behavioural issues as well as youths who have a brush with the law; young adults with self-esteem, mental health challenges and at a crossroads about life, parenting and etc. He also does marriage counselling and has experience managing cases that were referred by the courts for family/spousal violence as well as mandatory counselling for couples going through divorce. Mou Nyee also ran many group work programs for children, youths, couples and parents.
I’m a seasoned professional with extensive experience in counselling, social work, and education. My career has spanned diverse settings, including working with young people facing legal issues, men referred by courts for spousal violence counselling, and couples navigating the challenges of divorce. I’ve managed counselling and social work teams, spearheading innovative services for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers. In corporate environments, I’ve supported employees through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), addressing critical incidents like the loss of colleagues, mental health challenges, and workplace relationship dynamics.
In the education sector, I’ve worked with adults dealing with self-esteem and mental health concerns, and I’ve taught social science modules as a full-time lecturer at a Polytechnic. Additionally, I provide specialized training in counselling for various institutions, combining practical expertise with academic insight. Through all these experiences, my focus has always been on creating a safe, supportive, and empowering space for my clients to navigate their challenges and achieve their goals. Mou Nyee is a certified practitioner with a strong foundation in evidence-based approaches to counseling and therapy. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Solutions Focused Brief Therapy and have completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I’m trained in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2) and Strategic Conflict Management for Professionals (Levels 1 & 2). Additionally, he is also a Certified Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
